This initiative uses the technological capacity of ANGOSAT-2 to strengthen connectivity in hard-to-reach areas, according to a press release sent to JA Online. The project is part of the border post modernization process led by the Coordinated Border Management Committee (CGCF), coordinated by the Ministry of Finance and co-coordinated by the Ministries of Interior and Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS). In the latest phase of the program, a VSAT antenna was installed at the Luvo Border Post in Zaire Province, enabling a direct connection to ANGOSAT-2 and significantly improving internet access in the area. “The new infrastructure ensures local communications and interconnection with other border posts nationwide, contributing to greater operational efficiency and strengthening formal trade exchanges,” the document adds. Beyond its impact on communications, the initiative also promotes national technological entrepreneurship through the participation of Angolan startups linked to the National Space Program. Conecta Angola Commercial also plans to provide internet speeds of up to 150 Mbps in regions far from major urban centers, using exclusively the satellite coverage of ANGOSAT-2.
